Today is Mark Knopfler’s 75th birthday, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to 1985 for Dire Strait’s “So Far Away”.
The song was the first single from the band’s legendary “Brothers In Arms” album. The project sold an incredible 30 million copies worldwide and became the first compact disc to sell a million copies. “Money for Nothing” was a #1 hit, “Walk of Life” hit the top ten, and “So Far Away” reached #29 in early 1985.
