This Saturday morning at 9 on American Top 40 the 70’s, Casey Kasem counts down the top songs from June 17th, 1978, it’s where I found today’s tasty Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Mr. Jimmy Buffett with “Cheeseburger in Paradise”.
In a career than spanned over 50 years, Jimmy only had 5 top 40 hits, “Come Monday”, “Margaritaville”, “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes”, “Fins”, and “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, a song that went to #32 in 1978. It became one of his signature songs from the album “Son of a Son of a Sailor”. Of course Jimmy Buffett passed away last September at the age of 76.
One thing Jimmy did know how to do was have a good time! His “island escapism” created generations of Parrotheads, who will enjoy his music for years to come.
