This Saturday morning at 9 105.7 KOKZ brings you American Top 40 the 70’s as Casey Kasem features the top songs from May 15th, 1976.  Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is one of the songs you’ll hear on the show, from Marvin Gaye “I Want You”.

The song was the title track to his 14th studio album, and the follow-up to his legendary 1973 classic “Let’s Get It On”.  It marked a change in style for Marvin as he moved away from Motown & doo-wop sounds to more light/disco soul.

Recorded at his new recording studio “Marvin’s Room” in L.A, the song was a #1 soul hit and the song reached #15 on the pop charts.  The album went on to sell over a million copies and earned Marvin a Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.

I found a 1981 video of Marvin Gaye rehearsing the song “I Want You” laying on a couch, it’s today’s Forgotten 45!
