You can thank John Mulaney for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45. All this week he’s been hosting his Netflix show “Everybody’s in L.A.” on Netflix and he uses this song as the theme, and it’s been stuck in my head all week long, from Wang Chung “To Live and Die in L.A.”
The 3rd album from Wang Chung turns out to be the soundtrack to the movie of the same name “To Live and Die in L.A.”, a 1985 action-crime thriller that starred William Petersen of CSI fame, Willem Dafoe, and more. The director William Friedken was such a fan of Wang Chung, he asked them to record music for the film.
The movie received good reviews, but wasn’t really much a hit, and neither was the song, peaking at #41 in 1985, but it’s been given new life by John Mulaney, if you haven’t checked out his show on Netflix, tonight is the final live episode at 9pm…and it’s hilarious.
Check out Wang Chung “To Live and Die in L.A.” today’s Forgotten 45.
