Happy Friday! Mike texted us wanting to hear a song that just so happens to be on this weekend’s Absolutely 80’s Saturday night. So I told him we’d feature his request as today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Rocky Burnette it’s “Tired of Toein’ the Line”.
Rocky was born in Memphis, the son of rockabilly singer Johnny Burnette, who is best known for his 1960 hit “You’re Sixteen”, later done by Ringo Starr. That song went to #8 on the charts, and Rocky matched his old man in the Summer of 1980 with his only hit. The song also went to #1 in Australia and was a #3 hit in South Africa.
Rocky did go on to have other chart singles in other countries, but money problems with his record company ended his chart success in America.
Take a trip back to the Summer of 1980 with Rocky Burnette with “Tired of Toein’ the Line” today’s Forgotten 45.
