Created by super producer Stephen J. Cannell “The Greatest American Hero” debuted in 1981 with William Katt playing the role of teacher Ralph Hinkley who encounters aliens who give him a special red suit that gives him superpowers. Weren’t the 80’s great?!
The show also starred Robert Culp and Connie Selleca and ran for 3 seasons and delivered a #2 hit for Joey Scarbury in the summer of 1981, kept out of the #1 spot by a little song called “Endless Love” by Lionel Richie & Diana Ross.
