Today is Peter Gabriel’s 74th birthday, so in celebration we go back to the early 90’s for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 with his song “Steam”.

Originally a part of the group Genesis, Peter Gabriel is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of that group and as a solo artist.  He first hit the charts in 1977 with “Solsbury Hill” and his popularity exploded in the 80’s with his album “So” and groundbreaking videos for his hits “Sledgehammer” and “Big Time”.

The video for “Steam” was directed by Stephen R. Johnson who also was involved with Peter’s earlier projects.  The song appears on his album “Us” released in the Fall of 1992 and “Steam” ended up being his final top 40 hit.
