The 66th Grammy Awards were held in rainy Los Angeles last night, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to the 1984 awards and a song from the best selling album of all-time “Thriller” and Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature”.

“Thriller” won the Grammy for Album of the Year 40 years ago, in fact Michael took home a record breaking 8 trophies (and you thought Taylor Swift was winning everything!).  The album sold over 70 million copies and if I think back, I probably owned it on vinyl, cassette, and CD!

“Human Nature” was the 5th single from the album and like all of the others, went on to become a big hit, reaching #7 on the Hot 100.  The song was written by Steve Porcaro from Toto who came up with the song after his 1st grade daughter came home after a boy pushed her off the slide.  Steve recalled he told her “the boy probably liked her and it was human nature”.  Quincy Jones heard his demo of the song and the rest was history.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 40 years, but take a trip back to ’84 for “Human Nature” today’s Forgotten 45.
