This Saturday morning at 9 105.7 KOKZ brings you American Top 40 the 70’s as Casey Kasem plays the top songs from January 24th, 1976, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from The Who with “Squeeze Box”.
Pete Townshend wrote the song and as they story goes, he bought an accordion and learned to play it one afternoon. The lyrics for the song were really meant as a joke, but the sound gave the tune a polka feel. It was never intended to be a hit single…until it was! The song was a top 10 hit in England, reached #16 in the States, and became The Who’s only international #1 song when it hit the top of the charts in Canada.
Filled with double meanings throughout, check out The Who with “Squeeze Box” today’s Forgotten 45!
