It’s time for another edition of the Forgotten 45 at 3:45 and I saw that Billy Ocean celebrated his 74th birthday yesterday, so in honor, today we’ll play his hit song “Loverboy”.
Everyone remembers his big #1 hit “Caribbean Queen” from 1984, but do you remember that “Loverboy”, the follow up single was just as big of a hit? The song reached #2 from his album “Suddenly” which sold over 2 million copies in the U.S.
Born in Trinidad-Tobago, Billy and his family moved to England when he was ten years old, and while many people assume “Caribbean Queen” was his first hit, he actually had a hit in 1976 “Love Really Hurts Without You” that hit #22.
