Charlie Sexton – Beat’s So Lonely
He was the lead guitarist for Joe Ely’s band at the age of 13 and by 17, had his self-titled debut album out and released the single, “Beat’s So Lonely” in 1985.
The songs tells about a woman, who’s found fame and fortune, just as she dreamed, yet is left lonely, unable to get the guy she wants.
If you remember John Hughe’s Some Kind Of Wonderful with Eric Stoltz, Lea Thompson and Mary Stuart Masterson, this song is heard during a party scene.
Here’s a “no way!” moment for you – “Beat’s So Lonely” peaked at #17 on the Hot 100 after being on the charts 17 weeks…. Sexton was 17 at the time in 1986.
Hear it again this Sunday morning on AT40 – The 80s!
