The Chicago native got his start as a dancer on Soul Train along with Jody Watley. In fact he auditioned to be in Shalamar along with Jody, she was chosen, he was not. However he did tour with the group as a dancer and on a trip to London he met Mikey Craig from Culture Club who helped Jermaine record a demo tape, and he sang background vocals on their hit “Miss Me Blind”.
