Happy Birthday to Janet Jackson! Born the 10th and youngest of the legendary Jackson family, Janet is celebrating her 57th birthday, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we’ll feature her first big hit “What Have You Done For Me Lately”.
The song was the lead single from her breakthrough album “Control” which sold over 10 million copies worldwide. The album also featured 5 top 5 hits, including “Lately”. Working with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and recorded in Minneapolis, this song was the last one chosen for the album.
Of course Janet was no stranger to fame growing up in the Jackson family and starring in TV shows like Good Times & Diff’rent Strokes. But “Control” sent her career to a level rivaling brother Michael.
