Born on this date in 1949, Billy Joel is the 4th best selling solo artist of all-time, trailing only Garth Brooks, Elvis, and Michael Jackson, selling over 150 million records world-wide. All told, Billy Joel had 33 top 40 hits and “River of Dreams” peaked at #3 and the song was nominated for a Grammy for Record of the Year, but lost out to Whitney’s “I Will Always Love You”.
