Beer pong was invented sometime in the 1950’s. No one can pinpoint an exact date or year, but some college students invented the game while playing ping pong and drinking beer.

7 Hills Brewing Time Clock

This one comes from our neighbor along the Mississippi river, Dubuque, IA.

7 Hills Brewing offers this wonderfully flavorful pilsner that stands alone among normal pilsners. It pours a brilliantly clear gold with a light white head that dissipates quickly, but leaves wonderful lacing and beautiful fizz in the glass like champagne! Nice work, 7 Hills!

The nose is bready, malty with only light hop smell. It seems to be a very nice blend of all with a very present yeast smell, like baking beer bread!

Crisp and bubbly, clean and well blended, the flavor has some sweetness from the yeast sugars, yet a herbaceous note that reminds me of anise or clove, presents on the back. A very pleasant surprise.

This is a craft pilsner that should easily sway any mass produced pilsner drinker to a higher standard. A very easy drinker with only 4.2% ABV, I would LOVE to have a growler on hand all the time when I want a good tasting beer that isn’t heavy, but very refreshing. It’s incredible!

Founders All Day IPA

Founders is a well-known brewery with a lot going for it. It’s well established, been brewing a long time and has an array of excellent brews.

If you are on the fence about IPAs, because you’ve had a few and they were too bitter or too dry or very hoppy, maybe try this one.

I love the 20 oz. can! I can fit it all in a nice pilsner glass and really see the full color and gather enough head from the pour without it over flowing.

A hazy orange pour with a small white head with notes of pine and toffee, which makes it pretty unique.

The flavor of hop resin comes first but, while bitter, is blended with a burnt sugar or toffee. That is what tames the overly bitter hop, which can make IPAs seem dry.

Thin but medium bodied makes the IPA a fairly easy drinker. I think this is best ice cold from the fridge and enjoyed rather quickly. As the temp drops, the bitter begins to overtake the sweetness of that burnt sugar flavor, and if you’re not a strong hops fan, this could turn you off a bit. I find I was searching for more malt flavor, as it only comes out on the back and when it’s slightly warmer. All in all, one of the better mild IPAs, in my opinion.
