Today is Phil Collins 72nd birthday so to celebrate we go back to 1985 for his duet with Marilyn Martin “Separate Lives”, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45.
The song was a #1 hit in 1985 and was recorded for the soundtrack to the motion picture “White Nights” starring Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines. The film is notable both for the dancing of Hines and Baryshnikov and for the Oscar Award winning song, Say You Say Me by Lionel Richie.
“Separate Lives” was written by Stephen Bishop, who was also nominated for an Academy Award.
