For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to this week in 1983 for Asia’s “The Smile Has Left Your Eyes”.
After the tremendous success of their debut album, the record company was eager to capitalize on the band’s success, so they rushed the group back into the studio to record “Alpha”, their follow-up LP.
The first single “Don’t Cry” was a top 10 hit, but the second, “Smile” didn’t fare as well, ending it’s chart run at #34. The album, while considered a disappointment, was certified platinum with sales of over one million copies.
