It’s Friday! Our Forgotten 45 at 3:45 today can be heard again on Absolutely 80’s with Nina Blackwood Saturday night from 9 to midnight, it’s from Boy Meets Girl with “Waiting For a Star to Fall”.
The 1988 hit was by the band’s two members who wrote the song after seeing a falling star at a Whitney Houston show in Los Angeles. The duo had written Whitney’s songs “How Will I Know” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” so they offered the song to her but she declined.
Belinda Carlisle then recorded the song, but it didn’t make the cut of her solo album, so they decided to record it and release it as their own. The song went on to be a #5 hit for the married duo.
