Welcome to Monday’s edition of the Forgotten 45 at 3:45! Today we celebrate the 68th birthday of Diamond Dave, former Van Halen lead singer David Lee Roth, who signs “I’ll Wait” today’s Forgotten 45.

David Lee Roth was born in Bloomington, Indiana where he was raised until his family moved to Pasadena, California as a teen.  He met the Van Halen brothers while attending Pasadena City College. The band became a big hit in the Los Angeles area and drew the attention of Gene Simmons from KISS, who ultimately helped them record a demo, and well, the rest is rock and roll history.

“I’ll Wait” was the second single from their massive 1984 album which sold over 10 million copies.  Sadly no video was shot for the song, but you can check out a live 2012 performance of Diamond Dave and the band with “I’ll Wait” today’s Forgotten 45.
