Ahhhh 1984, the world was obsessed with Prince.  He was everywhere and his influence continues even after his death.  For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we feature one of the many songs he wrote for other artists, like “The Glamorous Life” by Sheila E.

Often called the Queen of Percussion, Sheila was born in Oakland, California where her father Pete was also a percussionist.  In fact she originally met Prince at one of her dad’s gigs in 1977 where she was also performing.  Prince vowed that night that she would one day join his band, which she did during the Purple Rain project.

“Glamorous Life” went to #7 on the charts in ’84 and was a huge dance hit.  Check out Sheila E with today’s Forgotten 45!
