For better or worse, our lives are influenced by our parents. I have vivid memories of some of my mom’s favorite music. The Carpenters, Bee Gees, and the group that brings us today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, Bread with “Guitar Man”.
David Gates and Bread delivered 13 chart songs in the 70’s with their signature soft rock songs. “Guitar Man” was the title track of their 1972 album that featured three top 20 hits (“Sweet Surrender” and “Aubrey”). Guitar Man reached #11 on the pop charts and was a #1 hit on the easy listening chart (remember those?!)
You can hear the song again this Saturday morning at 9 on Classic American Top 40 from September 16th, 1972. Check out the performance of “Guitar Man” by Bread, today’s Forgotten 45.
