On this date in 1983, Styx released “Kilroy Was Here” their 11th and final album with the classic lineup of Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw, James Young, and the Panozzo brothers.

It was a concept album and a “rock opera” about a world where music was outlawed.  I remember seeing this tour at the UNI-Dome in May of 1983 (thank you Google) and while I love the band, you could tell something was off.  It was later when you saw shows like Behind the Music that you found out this was the final nail in the Dennis DeYoung era of Styx.  Chalk it up to “creative differences”!

Nonetheless, Styx hit the top 10 with two songs from this album, “Mr. Roboto” and today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 “Don’t Let It End” by Styx.
