Brian from Tipton called up suggesting this #1 song!
Alan ‘O Day – Undercover Angel

Alan O’ Day was the first artists signed to a new label created by Warner Bros. to feature songwriters who were also performers. He was the first to be signed to Pacific Records.
His first single to be released is a “nocturnal novelette”, according to it’s writer. Released in February of 1977, it had little to no marketing to push the song or artist to radio. Over a period of months, “Undercover Angel” reached radio and climbed up to the top spot on the Hot 100, all without the help of a full album release.
O’ Day also wrote “Angie Baby”, another #1 song recorded my Helen Reddy, in 1974, making him one of the few songwriters who had a #1 for himself and another artist.
