Brian from Waterloo suggested a KILLER F45!!

Kim Mitchell – Go For A Soda

Former member of Max Webster, Canadian guitarist/singer/songwriter. Kim Mitchell released his debut solo album, ‘Akimbo Alogo’ in 1984.

The lead single, “Go For A Soda” is his best known song here in the states, as it was used for a Mr. Pibb ad, campaign theme song for MADD (Mother Against Drunk Driving) and also in an episode of Miami Vice. It has one of the greatest hooks in 80s rock, even though the lyric,

Might as well go for a soda

Nobody hurts and nobody cries

shouldn’t be as easy to sing in the short amounts of counts to a measure. That’s a lot of words to cram into such a short period and get away with it.

It peaked at #86 on the Hot 100, and is a quintessential Fogotten 45!
