It was on this date in 1982 the movie “Blade Runner” hit theaters. So for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to June 25th of ’82 for Kansas with “Play the Game Tonight”.
The movie starred Harrison Ford, who by 1982 was a full-fledged Hollywood star from playing Han Solo in the Star Wars movies and Indiana Jones from the ’81 classic “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. The movie was directed by Ridley Scott and also featured Sean Young and Edward James Olmos. The film did okay at the box office making over 40 million dollars, but over the years has become a cult classic.
The group Kansas was also on the charts in ’82 with “Play the Game Tonight” a song that appears on their “Vinyl Confessions” album. The song went to #17 to become the 5th of their 6 top 40 hits, the biggest being “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind”.
