For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we celebrate the life of the great songwriter Billy Steinberg who passed away yesterday at the age of 75. One of the many songs he had hand in penning is from Cyndi Lauper with “I Drove All Night”.
You might not be familiar with Billy Steinberg, but I can guarantee you know many of his songs. Along with his songwriting partner Tom Kelly they wrote classics like Madonna’s “Like a Virgin”, Heart’s “Alone”, Whitney Houston’s “So Emotional”, and “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles.
He also wrote “True Colors” for Cyndi Lauper who also recorded his song “I Drove All Night”, a tune that would become her final top 40 hit in 1989 when the song went to #6 on the charts. Billy Steinberg passed away yesterday from cancer at the age of 75.
From ’89 it’s Cyndi Lauper with “I Drove All Night”. Today’s Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
