This morning on the Waters Wake-Up Call, Mike was featuring Valen-tunes with Valentines Day on Saturday.  I figured I’d keep the train rolling with today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Billy Idol with “To Be a Lover”.

The song was on the charts February 10th, 1987, the song was a remake of the 1968 song “I Forgot to Be Your Lover” by William Bell, though Billy wasn’t aware of the original, he had a heard a reggae version by another artist.  He shortened the title and released the song as the first single from his “Whiplash Smile” and the song became one of his three top 10 hits reaching #6 on the charts.

Critics called the song “very 80’s and very Idol”.  It’s Billy Idol with “To Be a Lover”.  Today’s Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store. You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
