This Sunday morning at 8 on 105.7 KOKZ Casey Kasem will count down the top songs from December 17th, 1983. One of the songs you’ll hear on the show is today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from the Rolling Stones it’s “Undercover of the Night”.
The Stones released their 17th album in November of ’83 called “Undercover”, it was their first album in the 80’s of all original material but reception to the project was mixed as the LP broke a streak of 8 straight Stones album to reach #1.
The album’s biggest hit was “Undercover of the Night”, recorded at a time when Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were not getting along. In fact Keith mentioned that the song was largely a Mick production, he said “I just played on it”. Despite all that, the song went top 10 and peaked at #9 on the charts.
The video for the song was deemed too violent for MTV, so they released an edited version. But it’s 2025 and I’ve posted the original video of “Undercover of the Night” for you to view, it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
