Our Throwback Thursday Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was on the charts December 4th, 1982! From Peter Gabriel it’s “Shock the Monkey”.
After his time with Genesis, Peter went solo and had two hits in England that didn’t make the top 40 in the U.S. with “Solsbury Hill” and “Games Without Frontiers” in the 70’s. His very first Top 40 chart hit here was “Shock the Monkey”, a #1 Rock hit, and it went to #29 on the Hot 100. Of course a few years later he would really breakthrough with his smash album “So”.
