Happy Birthday to Ray Parker Jr! To celebrate his 70th trip around the sun today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was his first solo hit, “The Other Woman”.
Born in Detroit on May 1st, 1955, Ray Parker Jr. had quite a career. Working with legendary artists like Marvin Gaye and playing guitar for Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, the Spinners and more. In 1977 he formed the group Raydio which delivered 70’s classics like “Jack & Jill” and “You Can’t Change That”.
In 1981 Raydio broke up and Ray went solo with 8 more top 40 hits, the biggest being the #1 song “Ghostbusters”. “A Woman Needs Love” was his second biggest solo hit reaching #4 in June of 1982.
