Today is National Superhero Day! A day to celebrate heroes, real or fictional, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to 1972 for Jim Croce’s “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim”.
As the song says “You don’t tug on Superman’s cape!” The story is about Big Jim Walker who was a pool hustler in New York City. “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim” was the first hit in the short life of Jim Croce reaching #8 on the charts in the U.S. and also charting in Canada and France.
On September 20th, 1973 the day before the release of his next hit “I Got A Name”, Jim Croce’s plane crashed in Louisiana killing him and five others. He was only 30 years old.
A salute to all the superheroes! It’s Jim Croce with “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
