On this Pi Day (3/14) we go back to the charts this week in 1984 for our Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from KC with “Give It Up”.

Harry Wayne Casey was the lead singer of KC & the Sunshine Band, a disco & funk group out of Miami who had an incredible run of success in the 70’s with #1 hits like “Get Down Tonight”, and “That’s the Way I Like It”, and they even had the first #1 of 1980 with “Please Don’t Go”.

After all of the backlash against disco songs and artists in the early 80’s, Epic Records refused to release “Give It Up” so KC took the song to an independent label and it became the last top 40 hit for the band reaching #18 in 1984.

The 80’s had some incredible videos in the MTV era, this is NOT one of them!  Check out KC with “Give It Up” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
