This Sunday afternoon at 4 on Retro Pop Reunion, Joe Cortese features 4 hours of the greatest hits of the video music era and will feature Lost 90’s tunes.  One of those songs is today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Jane Child with “Don’t Wanna Fall in Love”.

The Toronto native was classically trained on piano as a kid, and was singing and playing by the time she was in kindergarten. By age 12 she was a member of Canadian Opera Company’s children’s chorus.  By age 15 she dropped out of school to join a band as their keyboard player, which led her to creating a demo tape that caught the attention of Warner Brothers records.

In the 1989 she released her debut album which featured her performing all of the vocals and instruments except guitar and some were labeling her the “female Prince”.  Well all of that work led to one big hit,  “Don’t Wanna Fall in Love” was a #2 hit for three straight weeks in 1990 and that was it for the chart career of Jane Child.

Rocking a very interesting hairdo complete with nose ring and Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, it’s Jane with “Don’t Wanna Fall in Love”, it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
