Today we wish Billy Ocean a very happy 75th birthday! In celebration for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to late 1984, early 1985 for his song “Loverboy”.
Leslie Sebastian Charles was born on January 21st, 1950, performing as Billy Ocean, he scored his first top 40 hit in 1976 with “Love Really Hurts Without You”. But it was in the 1984 when his career really took off with his first #1 song “Caribbean Queen”, that led to 11 more top 40 hits in the 80’s.
“Loverboy” was the follow up single to “Caribbean Queen” and just missed being another #1 hit for Billy, reaching #2 on the Hot 100 from his double platinum album “Suddenly”. Check out the sci-fi video for “Loverboy” by Billy Ocean, it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
