It’s Blue Monday, apparently the most depressing day of the year!  Apparently there’s a formula for computing this date, but I was told there would be no math!  Instead it’s usually the 3rd Monday in January, which is today.  So for our Forgotten 45 at 3:45 it has to be “Blue Monday” by New Order.

Called a synth-pop classic, New Order released “Blue Monday” in 1983 and the BBC  said the song played a crucial link between 70’s disco and 80’s house/dance music.   In 1988 Quincy Jones helped produce “Blue Monday ’88” a song that went top 5 in England and Australia and topped the dance charts in the U.S.

An 80’s tune to bring you out of your January funk, it’s New Order with “Blue Monday ’88” today’s Forgotten 45.
