This Saturday morning at 9 on American Top 40 the 70’s, Casey Kasem puts the spotlight on the top songs from December 17th, 1977. One of the songs you’ll hear on the countdown is today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Paul Davis with “I Go Crazy”.
The singer-songwriter from Mississippi, Paul Davis recorded 8 Top 40 hits between 1974 and 1982 and his first top 10 hit was “I Go Crazy”. The song spent 40 weeks on the Hot 100 charts, setting a record at that time. Eventually the song would go to #7. He had only one other song go higher on the charts, 1982’s “65 Love Affair” went to #6.
Paul wrote the song with Lou Rawls in mind, but the record company had other ideas and delivered today’s Forgotten 45. It’s Paul Davis with “I Go Crazy”.
