105.7 KOKZ welcomes The Wallflowers to Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids on Friday, June 13th! For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we feature the very first top 40 hit for the band “6th Avenue Heartache”.
The song was the first single from the bands most successful album “Bringing Down the Horse”. Released in May of 1996, the album sold over 4 million copies and featured their biggest hit “One Headlight” which was a #2 hit.
“6th Avenue Heartbreak” was the first real song lead singer Jakob Dylan had written when he was only 18 years. The song went to #33 on the Hot 100 charts. The song was also nominated for two Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Performance.
