This Saturday morning on American Top 40 the 70’s, Casey Kasem features the top songs from December 11th, 1971. One of the songs you’ll hear on the show is today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Jonathan Edwards with “Sunshine”.
Born in Minnesota, his family moved to Virginia at the age of 6. While he was in school he began playing guitar and as a teen started performing for audiences. In the late 60’s he played in different bands in the New England area before leaving the group to go solo.
His only hit song “Sunshine” was written after he left the group, Jonathan saying he felt “fresh and liberated” The song went to #4 and became his only top 40 hit.
Bringing back memories of AM radio and riding in the back of my parents car, it’s “Sunshine” by Jonathan Edwards, today’s Forgotten 45.
