Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend I watched “Music Box: A Yacht Rock Dockumentary” on HBO.  As an aficionado of this genre, I loved every minute of it!  So for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to 1982 for Kenny Loggins with “Heart to Heart”.

The song was written by Kenny and Michael McDonald who had previously teamed up to write the ultimate Yacht Rock tune “What a Fool Believes” by the Doobie Brothers.  In fact the website Yacht or Nyacht ranks that song #1 with a 100 score.  The song that comes in at #2?  You guessed it, “Heart to Heart”!  In fact those two account for 5 of the top 6 songs.

Released in ’82 from his “High Adventures” album, the song went to #15 on the Hot 100.  The song was produced by David Foster and like so many of the songs in the era, featured session players from Toto.

Speaking of David Foster, I found a video of Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald performing “Heart to Heart” together on a tribute to Foster.  It’s today’s Forgotten 45!
