As we head into the weekend, it’s time for Friday’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45! Today’s choice can be heard again Sunday on Retro Pop Reunion, from Culture Club it’s “Church of the Poison Mind”.
Boy George and Culture Club first hit the charts in 1982 with their #2 song “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” then went on to become one of the 80’s most influential groups recording 10 top 40 hits over the next few years.
Their 1983 album “Colour By Numbers” became their biggest seller with over 10 million copies sold. “Church of the Poison Mind” was a #10 hit and their follow-up “Karma Chameleon” went to #1. The band has said that “Church” was inspired by Stevie Wonder’s hit “Uptight”.
A fun Friday tune, today’s Forgotten 45 is from Culture Club with “Church of the Poison Mind”!
