This Sunday morning at 8 on American Top 40 the 80’s, Casey Kasem features the top songs from October 17th, 1987. Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is one of the songs you’ll hear on the show, from Madonna it’s “Causing a Commotion”.
The song was the second single for her soundtrack album to her movie “Who’s That Girl”. The film was Madonna’s third, and a box office flop. But the soundtrack did very well, selling over 6 million copies and the title track became her 6th number one hit.
“Causing a Commotion” was inspired her then husband Sean Penn’s abusive nature. And even though the critics didn’t love it, it WAS Madonna, so the song ended up going all the way to #2 on the charts, blocked from #1 by Michael Jackson’s “Bad” and Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now”.
I found a live video of Madonna performing her song “Causing a Commotion” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
