This Sunday Casey Kasem features the top songs from September 1st, 1984 and today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is one of the songs you’ll hear on the show, from Billy Joel it’s “Leave a Tender Moment Alone”.
Billy Joel’s success was riding high when he was writing the material for what would become his 9th studio album “An Innocent Man”. He was recently divorced from his first wife and was dating models like his soon to be ex-wife Christie Brinkley, and he said in an interview, “I kind of felt like a teenager all over again.”
Riding that feeling, the album became his tribute to the musical styles of the late 50’s and early 60’s. “An Innocent Man” sold over 7 million copies and delivered three top 10 songs “Tell Her About It”, “Uptown Girl”, and the title track. “Leave a Tender Moment Alone” went to #1 on the Adult Contemporary charts, and reached #27 on the Hot 100.
