This Saturday morning at 9 Casey Kasem hosts another classic American Top 40 show from the 70’s! This weekend he takes us back to August 19th, 1978 and today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is one of the songs you’ll hear on the show, from Nick Gilder it’s “Hot Child in the City”.
Born in London and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Nick Gilder began his career as the front band for glam rock Sweeney Todd (which later featured a very young Bryan Adams). As a solo artist his one hit was a big as they can get! “Hot Child in the City” was released in the summer of 1978 and went all the way to #1. In fact it took 21 weeks to climb to the top, making it the longest amount of time to get to number one.
Nick also had success as a songwriter, writing tunes for Bette Midler, Pat Benatar, and he even wrote Scandal’s hit “The Warrior”. Take a trip back to 1978 and check out Nick performing his song “Hot Child of the City” on Top Pop, it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
