Wednesday’s Forgotten 45: Pablo Cruise

By Jeff Winfield Jul 3, 2024 | 3:43 PM

This Saturday morning at 9 105.7 KOKZ brings you another classic American Top 40 show from the 70’s.  This weekend Casey Kasem features the top tunes from July 9th, 1977, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Pablo Cruise with “Whatcha Gonna Do”.

Formed in San Francisco in 1973, many fans had thought there was a guy named Pablo Cruise in the group, but that is not true.  According to the band, “Pablo” represents an honest, down to earth person and “Cruise” depicts his fun-loving, easy going attitude toward life!

The group recorded 5 top 40 hits and two top ten songs, “Love Will Find a Way” in 1978 and their debut hit “Whatcha Gonna Do” that reached #6 in 1977.  I found a live video of the group performing “Whatcha Gonna Do”, today’s Forgotten 45!
