Monday’s Forgotten 45: Blondie

By Jeff Winfield Jul 1, 2024 | 3:43 PM

Today we celebrate the 79th birthday of Debbie Harry from Blondie!  Our Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is “Dreaming” from 1979.

Born in Miami and raised in New Jersey as Angela Trimble, the singer we know as Debbie Harry worked various jobs after college, as a secretary, a dancer, and as a Playboy bunny!   In 1974 in New York City, she co-formed Blondie with guitarist Chris Stein.

Incorporating punk and new wave, the band was first highly successful in the UK and Australia before breaking through in the U.S. in 1978 with their album “Parallel Lines”.  In the next 4 years Blondie would reach the top 40 eight times, reaching #1 with “Heart of Glass”, “Call Me”, “Rapture”, and “The Tide is High”.  “Dreaming” appears on their album “Eat to the Beat”.

Their music still jumps out of the speakers decades later!  Check out Blondie with “Dreaming” today’s Forgotten 45.
