Happy Birthday to Fleetwood Mac drummer, co-founder, and leader Mick Fleetwood who celebrates his 77th today. To commemorate his birthday, for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to 1975 for the band’s first ever top 40 hit, “Over My Head”.

Of course the original Fleetwood Mac formed in 1967, but it wasn’t until the band added Lindsey Buckingham and his then girlfriend Stevie Nicks that the group really took off.  Their addition gave the group a more pop/rock sound, and their 1975 self-titled album went to #1 and sold 8 million copies and delivered 3 top 40 hits, “Rhiannon”, “Say You Love Me”, and their first top 40 hit “Over My Head”, which reached #20.

I found a performance of “Over My Head” from the Midnight Special introduced by David Brenner, it’s Fleetwood Mac with today’s Forgotten 45.
