The legendary Sir Paul McCartney is celebrating his 82nd Birthday today, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we’ll play one of his 32 #1 songs as a solo artist, collaborator, or a band called the Beatles! From 1975 it’s “Listen to What the Man Said”.
Born on this date in 1942 in Liverpool’s Walton Hospital, where his mother Mary worked as a nurse, Paul is considering one of the most successful living songwriters. Knighted in 1997, Sir Paul is an 18-time Grammy winner and to call him a living legend would somehow be an understatement.
“Listen to What the Man Said” appears on Wings “Venus and Mars” and the song went to #1 in the Summer of 1975 with single sales of over a million copies. His 2024 Got Back Tour will visit South America in October and he’ll be playing dates in Europe this December.
Happy Birthday to Paul McCartney! Check out this live performance of “Listen to What the Man Said” from 2013 in Japan, it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
