Friday’s Forgotten 45: Richard Marx

By Jeff Winfield Jun 14, 2024 | 3:43 PM

The Friday Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is dedicated to the Class of ’89, celebrating their 35th reunions this summer.  On the charts this week in 1989, it’s Richard Marx with “Satisfied”.

His self-title debut album in 1987 was a huge success delivering hits like “Don’t Mean Nothing”, “Should’ve Known Better”, “Endless Summer Nights” and “Hold On to the Nights”, his first #1 song.  Expectations were high for his 2nd album, and he delivered. “Repeat Offender” was released in 1989 and “Satisfied” was the first single from the project and it became the 2nd of three straight #1 songs, the third one being “Right Here Waiting”.

To date Richard Marx is the only male solo singer to have his first seven hits all reach the top 5.  And he’s had just as much success, if not more, as a songwriter.  He’s on tour this summer, tonight he’s in Pennsylvania, and he’ll play two shows in Kansas City in late August.

Cheers to the Class of ’89, check out the video to “Satisfied” by Richard Marx, today’s Forgotten 45.
