For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Bruce Springsteen’s legendary album “Born in the U.S.A.”!  This was the 2nd of 7 hit singles from the LP, it’s “Cover Me” by the Boss.

Released on June 4th, 1984, Bruce Springsteen’s 7th album was an absolute monster!  7 top ten hits (Dancing in the Dark, Cover Me, Born in the USA, I’m On Fire, Glory Days, I’m Goin’ Down, and My Hometown), 5 music videos that were played all the time on MTV, and sales of over 30 million copies!

“Cover Me” was the follow-up single to Dancing in the Dark and was a song that Bruce had originally written for Donna Summer, but his manager thought it had hit potential….it turns out he was right!

There was no music video made for this song, but I did find a live performance of “Cover Me” from 2013 in London.  Happy 40th to Born in the U.S.A.!
