Wednesday’s Forgotten 45: Paul McCartney

By Jeff Winfield May 22, 2024 | 3:43 PM

On Memorial Day, 105.7 KOKZ will feature two classic American Top 40 shows.  Monday morning from 9 to noon, enjoy the #1 Songs from 1975 and at noon, we’ll feature the #1 Songs of the 80’s from 1980 to early 1982.  It’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Paul McCartney with “Coming Up”.

The song became Paul’s 7th solo #1 song, and the first in the 80’s, reaching the top spot in the Summer of ’80.  It appears on his 2nd solo album “McCartney II”. He worked on the song at his farm in Scotland, and John Lennon said hearing this song on the radio inspired him to get back into the recording studio.

If you’re a big McCartney and Wings fan, they will release their live album “One Hand Clapping” on June 24th as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of this performance.

Remember to tune in for the AT40 specials on Monday and take a peak at the video to “Coming Up” by Paul McCartney, today’s Forgotten 45.
